The International Nuclear Academy was part of the Burgundy Nuclear Partnership delegation invited to visit the site of the third-generation European Pressurised Water nuclear Reactor (EPR) in Flamanville. The EDF team welcomed the delegation and was proud to show up this outstanding construction construction site.

The start of the EPR construction at Flamanville 3 is a decisive stage in preparing for the replacement of EDF’s nuclear power plants, as the oldest ones could be decommissioned in around 2020. The commissioning of the Flamanville EPR is set for 2012 and the generation of the first marketable electricity in 2013. The EPR plant will constitute the first version of a new generation of reactors in France.
