Last February 11th, the International Nuclear Academy gathered more than one hundred professionals on a cutting edge and challenging topic : “Numerical simulation contributions to improve metallurgical engineering: the nuclear industry experience”. Representatives with different backgrounds networked together to transfer between each other their respective cutting edge know-how: from SMEs and funding agencies to blue-chip companies and materials R&D laboratories. Workshops identified the technological and human resources and financial issues which need to be addressed in order to improve the use of this kind of tools for shaping and machining and assembly of materials.FLAM3 15-01-2010

Ahead of the new nuclear build to proceed in the UK
A team of more than 20 delegates from the Nuclear Industry Association (NIA), the British trade association and information body for the UK civil nuclear industry, met with the Burgundy Nuclear Partnership (PNB) last June. The British companies included AMEC, ATKINS, BABCOCK, DOOSAN BABCOCK ENERGY, PARSONS BRINCKERHOFF, ROLLS&ROYCE, THOMPSON VALVES, UKAEA, and WESTINGHOUSE. Overall the visit proved to be very successful, fulfilling its objectives and providing opportunity for delegates to network with companies operating in the international nuclear industry. During 3 days, British delegates had the opportunity to gauge the attractiveness of the Burgundy nuclear cluster by visiting top facilities and laboratories at the forefront of nuclear technology.
